Default Wifi Cameras to Acquire for Use with Ashtech MobileMapper 100 and ArcPad 10

Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good camera w/ wifi capabilities to use with the Ashtech MobileMapper 100 and ArcPad 10. The camera on the Ashtech is ok but not great and I would like a better camera for taking photos in the field. I’ve read the posts on the eye-fi card which may be an option as well.

Thank you,

Winn

Default Re: Wifi Cameras to Acquire for Use with Ashtech MobileMapper 100 and ArcPad 10

What problems are you having with the camera, we have found that ArcPad doesn’t respond well to hi-res images, you want to leave the camera settings at the factory defaults. Do not waste your money on the Ricoh, we know dealers that have new units sitting on the shelf and can’t sell them, the MM100’s built in camera is 3 megapixel which meets the minimum requirements for most county office requests when geo-referencing images.

Default Re: Wifi Cameras to Acquire for Use with Ashtech MobileMapper 100 and ArcPad 10

@Stakemill, Thanks for the reply. We’ve been using the camera on the Ashtech at high res just fine for the most part, although we have had some issues in the past. So it would be nice to have a backup, but from what I’ve heard from others as well is that the Ashtech isn’t good at connecting to external cameras. We do have a ricoh, which takes ok pictures but has a very poor accuracy with regards to location of the point compared to the Ashtech, not to mention the extra steps involved with not having it in the attribute table.

Stakemill Offers the ProMark 120 and ProMark 220 GNSS Solutions for Land Survey Applications

October 10, 2012

Order here

Hannover, Germany, Oct.8, 2012 – Spectra Precision introduced today new ProMark™ GNSS receivers to meet the evolving performance and cost needs of the mainstream land survey market. The new ProMark 120 and ProMark 220 GNSS receivers, powered by Ashtech, provide surveyors with an expanded set of capabilities and enhancements, and they replace the ProMark 100 and ProMark 200.

The announcement was made at Spectra Precision’s Worldwide Distribution Conference held in Hannover, Germany. The expanded product portfolio will be showcased at INTERGEO 2012, the world’s largest geodesy, geoinformatics and land management trade event.

Both new ProMark models are equipped with an updated hardware platform that includes the latest Ashtech GNSS chipset with Z-Blade™ GNSS-centric technology. In addition, both come with the Microsoft® Windows® Embedded Handheld 6.5 Professional operating system, which includes a language provisioning capability permitting customers to select locale-specific settings, such as language and calendar types.

The new ProMark 120 features enhanced ProMark Field software v3.0 for an exceptionally versatile and easy-to-use post-processing solution. ProMark Field software v3.0 introduces a large custom virtual keyboard, enables the import and export of user-defined text file formats, enhances voice information and guidance features, and includes many other improvements to make it an extremely easy-to-use application.

The ProMark 220 features an internal L2 GLONASS capability that further strengthens the RTK performance of this robust dual-frequency and dual constellation network RTK rover. Its Z-Blade GNSS-centric firmware provides exceptionally fast RTK initialization and more reliable RTK positioning, specifically in shaded or multipath conditions, where GNSS signals may be difficult to acquire.

The ProMark 220 is offered with a choice of advanced field software applications: either the Survey Pro™ v5.2 or the FAST Survey v3.0 software. Both field software applications meet the demanding expectations of professional surveyors, particularly for RTK network surveys. Additional software options allow interaction with a wide range of survey instruments and accessories to run complete survey jobs and survey projects where total stations are also used.

“With unique positioning capabilities and robust features, both new ProMark receivers are ideal tools for surveyors looking for a cost-effective, high performance and reliable solution,” said François Erceau, general manager of Trimble’s Spectra Precision Surveying Business.

Advanced Ashtech Z-Blade Technology
Z-Blade is an Ashtech GNSS-centric signal processing technology. Unlike other commercial GNSS receiver architectures, Z-Blade is not dependent on GPS satellites for obtaining or maintaining an RTK fix. Z-Blade receivers use all available satellite signals equally, without preference to a particular satellite constellation, to maximize the user’s ability to obtain reliable GNSS positions in tough conditions. Provided it can see enough other GNSS satellites, Z-Blade allows users to achieve and maintain RTK positioning, even if GPS coverage is reduced by obstacles such as trees and buildings.
