Stakemill has taken delivery of the new Spectra Precision version of Ashtech’s ProMark 800, replacement GNSS Receiver for the Ashtech/Magellan ProMark 500.

What a great way to bring in 2012, the new Spectra ProMark 800 units have a gray body color and the same tried and true accessories that previous ProMark 500 users are familiar with.  We will be dialing into the eGPS network to let this triple frequency and multi constellation unit do what it does best, lock onto satellites. We are excited to see it lock onto satellites in any order and expect its fix time to be the fastest ever. For those users of other brand GNSS Receivers, never again will you have to wait for an L1 solution before unit will start using another constellation.  The new ProMark 800 will track any satellite regardless of constellation and acquire its fix unlike the other brands in no particular order.  Stop in and see first hand the L5 and GALILEO options at work.

Just a quick note about the name changes – Ashtech Solutions became Thales Navigation which became Magellan Professional and changed back to Ashtech which has recently been purchased by Trimble to be distributed under the name Spectra Precision as Ashtech.  It is still the same high quality GPS, just a few name changes.

FSMS Trade Show a Success Again for Stakemill

Stakemill once again can claim we left the show with sales order from everything from survey stakes and field supplies to Ashtech GPS receivers, a feat accomplished last year as well.  We had a good Product Spotlight presentation with Joe Weaver of Ashtech and Lance Andre of eGPS showcasing our network rover the Mobile Mapper 100 with their centimeter service.  We saw a lot of familiar faces met some new ones and were ignored by a few.  We are pleased with our outcome and once again want to share with everyone our success at the FSMS trade show this year.

A worthwhile session for those attending was the ESRI taught GIS for Surveyors, a three-part session.  After a quick stop in during their session break, Brent Jones of ESRI informed me the Land Surveyors are warming up to GIS in their industry and with the accuracy of the New Ashtech MobileMapper100  he mentioned to me the accuracy is now there for them to want to start using ArcPad and other ESRI products.  Once again we feel great about the show and the turnout, we were glad to be a part of it and to be able to show off our newest survey GIS product the Mobile Mapper 100.

Congratulations to Stakemill on the installation of their new Ashtech ProFlex 500 Continuous Operating Reference Station (CORS)! The ProFlex 500 was given this name due to its interoperability, versatility of function and flexible connectivity. It can be used as a base station, utilized in a marine environment, machine control, or as an RTK backpack. The combination of Ashtech’s ProFlex 500, coupled with a subscription to the eGPS (egps.net) network, makes this one of the newest – and most precise – reference stations in the area! These new reference station units allow continuously transmitted raw data to the eGPS network, the largest privately owned GPS network in the Southeast.

With the professional and exceptional technical assistance from Lance Andre (eGPS), the configuration time is minimal, and the installation was completed in a timely manner (with the Active L1/L2 Antcom Choke Ring Antenna mast secured to a commercial building).

Ashtech Mobile Mapper Field Software Released

Ashtech has released a new Mobile Mapper program for the Mobile Mapper 6 haand held GIS unit. This software incorporates 20 new improvements over the older Magellan Mobile Mapping software. It is still a Windows Mobile 6 build but it is an entirely new design. We have listed the new features below along with numerous screen shots of this software.
