March 27, 2013

We are getting numerous calls again from past customers in Tampa, Lakeland, Orlando and other areas that are having difficulty getting wood stakes from their small supplier.  Stakemill is also a small supplier, but one that has been around long enough to know we take care of those who keep us as their supplier when wood shortages appear.  We gladly accept new customers, we do require the first order to be prepaid and can establish terms for customer that order within two month periods.  We are unable to offer terms for non active accounts, we do apologize for this and suggest you look at our entire product line so you can order from us on a regular basis should you desire to have open account terms.  Stakemill is one of the largest suppliers of survey flagging, marking paint, field journals, survey accessories and replacement batteries so we know you can use us on a regular basis.

Stakemill Announces Sales Increase Each Quarter

June 16, 2009

Stakemill Announces Sales Increase Each Quarter

Stakemill – a division of Bay Pines Investments is proud to announce it has seen a steady rise each quarter in our Survey Supplies Sales.  Even in turbulent times, those business well poised will prosper in sales and market share over those who have overextended themselves and are not strong in their management departments.  Stakemill has maintained most of our original customers since our starting in 1978 and have picked up numerous customers left abandoned by closed locations from other suppliers.  Seeing a few of our competitors going into their next generation and some who have tried to reach into too many markets, Stakemill has found opportunity to move into those areas now left either un-serviced by those locations closed or ignored by new management.

In late 2008 Stakemill added such suppliers as Sokkia, Dunham & Morrow, Apache Technologies to compliment our Land Survey and GPS lineup from such leaders as Magellan, CST Berger, Seco and Crain.  In early 2009 Stakemill has added the product lineup from Spectra Precision and in mid 2009 we will be adding the Topcon lineup.  All of these suppliers had more than adequate coverage in Florida prior to their relations with Stakemill, leaving one to wonder how Florida survey suppliers left so many opportunities to arise.

The third quarter of 2009 will have Stakemill looking to expand our clerical and sales staff to keep up with demand from local, international and internet customers.  Come join our ever-growing family.

Swiss Style Prism Poles by SECO available from Stakemill

These telescoping poles with QLV™ locking mechanisms are easily the most user-friendly prism poles on the market. The QLV (Quick Lever with Vial) locking assembly keeps the high-vis 40-minute vial on the lock itself, out of the way of other accessories like data collector clamps and bipods that need space on the pole. The small diameter, 25 mm bottom section fits Swiss-style slide-on controller brackets. The #5802-10 pole extends to 8.3 ft (2.5 m) and collapses to 4.80 ft (1.46 m). It reads direct for any 86 mm height prisms. This pole is anodized clear with red graduations and red logo. It has a two piece replaceable point. Weighs 2.50 lb (1.13 kg).

Stakemill offers quality stakes every time

February 5, 2008

Utilizing actual stake production equipment on all of our production lines and not home-made machines, Stakemill continues to make the same high quality stakes as we did years ago by keeping our production line equipment up to date.  Stakemill regularly updates to newer saws identical to the ones we have been using for the last 20 years, these professionally made saws assure us of continued production and satisfied customers.  We even control a production line overseas that uses the machines we housed in both our Largo and Ocala facilities.  Those saws teamed up with an abundant wood source and competitive labor have allowed us to continue cutting all the stakes we need in-house along with bringing in a superior grade stake and hub cut from hard woods.  One fact we are proud of is that we have acquired more stake production companies over the last 20 years than currently exist today in the local area today, a feat we love to brag about.  Stakemill adds more saws

Seen above are the saws Stakemill purchased just outside the Gainesville area in 2006 when a stake company that recently changed hands failed to make ends meet, a sight all to familiar to us.  We have seen more companies come and go over the last 20 years, early 2008 has left Ft Myers surveyors looking for wood stakes again, Stakemill will be there for them again.  We expect 2009 to leave another stake companies equipment going to the auction block.  Stakemill is expecting to buy new equipment in 2009, stake company owners, please contact Sean Scully at 727-538-0886 ext 101 to discuss your surplus equipment or company for sale.

Wood Survey Stakes

December 16, 2007

Not all wood stakes are created equal – you have different species of wood, from light weight soft woods to heavy, dense grain hard woods.  You also have different finishes from band saw course cuts to fine carbide tip blade cuts and even surfacing of the wood to yield an ultra smooth writable finish.  We utilize different finishes for different stakes along with hard woods compared to standard Southern Yellow Pine in different applications.

Stakemill has been located in Pinellas County Florida since 1978 and has been utilizing the same high quality production methods to produce wood survey lath and stakes.  Other stake companies have come and gone and we have either acquired their equipment or seen it once again set up and shut down.  In the last 30 years not one stake company has lasted in the same city or the same ownership, why you ask – simple economics.  If the business changes hands in ownership, all you are doing is incurring debt and in-experience.  If you produce a low quality product, you will not keep your customer base.  Sell for too little money and the doors simply cannot stay open.  Stakemill still has numerous customers from around the state that have been buying from us on a regular basis for over 25 years.
